Report: Giants' Drew Lock to miss time due to hip injury

New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock sustained a bad bone contusion and a strained oblique in the team's preseason win over the Detroit Lions on Thursday night, NFL Network reported Friday.
Lock is expected to miss some time due to the hip injury, according to the report. Coach Brian Daboll said Friday during a media session that "it could be longer" than "a couple of days," and the team could "potentially" have to add another quarterback to the roster.
The Giants signed free agent Lock in March to be a backup to starter Daniel Jones. Lock started the game Thursday but was injured in the first quarter and finished 4 of 10 for 17 yards and one interception. He also ran twice for 12 yards.
Tommy DeVito replaced him as the Giants won 14-3.
Lock, 27, spent his first three seasons with the Denver Broncos, who selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Missouri. He played last season for the Seattle Seahawks, starting two of the four games he played and completing 48 of 76 passes (63.2 percent) for 543 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions with an 81.2 passer rating.
In four seasons, Lock has played in 28 games, is 9-14-0 as a starter and has completed 469 of 786 passes (59.7 percent) for 5,283 yards, 28 TDs and 23 picks with a 79.5 passer rating.
